MEGAN – QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Megan is not only a qualified Veterinary Nurse but is also one of our resident groomers. Meg started working for Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in 2003 and is very experienced in all aspects of nursing. Meg also runs a weight loss clinic for the more “portly” pets and is only too happy to assist people with their pets dietary issues. Meg shares a home with her wonderful husband Simon and her beautiful boy cat, Conan.
KATRINA – QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Katrina joined Port Kennedy Vet hospital about 7yrs ago, as a qualified veterinary nurse. She previously worked at the Cat Haven in Shenton Park WA, working in the kennels of the rescue shelter. Always feeling her true calling was to pursue her nursing further, she started at Port Kennedy Veterinary hospital, where with little surgery experience under her belt, the team took her on and helped her continue with further training in surgery/emergency and other aspects of veterinary nursing. A short while after starting she was given the opportunity to train as a groomer and began grooming. Between grooming and her nursing shifts she has pretty much become a part of the furniture. Katrina lives locally with her husband, 2 dogs and cats, they also have 2 horses. Animals are not only her job but her life and her love.
KAROLINE – QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Karoline has been at the Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital since 2005. She is experienced in all facets of Veterinary Nursing and has a special interest in Surgical Nursing. Karoline is currently furthering her nursing studies by doing a Diploma of Surgical Nursing. Karoline shares her home and her outdoor lifestyle, with her awesome dog H.
LAURA-LEE – QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Laura-Lee started work with Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in Feb 2010 as a part time nurse. She loved the work so much she left her previous employment as a Pharmacy Assistant and came on board full time from July 2010. Laura-Lee is now a registered nurse after completing her Cert 4 Vet Nursing at TAFE. Laura-Lee has a “special” budgie Sweetpea who now lives with a proud grandma and grampa and recently rehomed the mischievous rabbit Cruzer who is the best kind of trouble! She also volunteers with Native Animal Rescue in her spare time and is looking to volunteer with the Bali Street Dog Rescue Group in the future.
EVELYN – QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Evelyn started work at Port Kennedy veterinary hospital in November 2011 after graduating with a certificate IV in veterinary nursing. Originally from Ireland, she came to Australia in 2007 as a backpacker. She loved it so much she has never left!! Evelyn shares her home with her wonderful partner Nathan, her rescue dog ” the great escape artist” Elton and cat, ruler of the household, Mr. Bigglesworth!
BEVERLY – QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
KELLY – QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE
Kelly initially started work with the hospital as a kennel hand while she completed the last few months of her Veterinary Nursing studies at Applied Vocational training, which she recently successfully completed. She lives with her lovely husband, two beautiful children, her beloved dog Bonnie and two spoilt cats Kiara and Miley.
NIKKI – TRAINEE VETERINARY NURSE
Nikki started work with Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in March 2011 after being selected to start a Veterinary Nursing Traineeship with the hospital. Nikki has an extensive background in customer service and is already a great asset to the team. She shares her home with her wonderful partner Michael and beautiful daughter Chloe. Nikki has two wonderful dogs Holly and Max and has given a loving home to two of our older stray cats, Millie & Nova.
ASHLEY – TRAINEE VETERINARY NURSE
Ashley started her two year veterinary nursing traineeship at Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in November 2011, she is loving her job so far with the many challenges and rewards it presents on a daily basis. She is studying for her Certificate IV in veterinary nursing by correspondence at TAFE – Polytechnic West, it is hard work and requires a strong commitment to self study but she is enjoying putting the academic theory into practice. Ashley lives in the local area with her family and her beautiful dog, Shimba a loyal German Shepherd. Ashleys longer term goals are to successfully graduate from her nursing course and travel to Thailand to work with and help save the tigers.
JAMI – TRAINEE VETERINARY NURSE
Jami first exposure to veterinary nursing was from completing a work experience placement at Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in 2011 for one day a week for five months and from this has recently started working as a part-time Kennel Hand five days a week while studying full time. Jami is enjoying being part of the Port Kennedy team and is excited by the experiences this brings. Jami’s long term goals are to qualify as a veterinary nurse and one day contribute the rehabilitation & conservation of the African Cheetah, her favourite animal. Outside of the veterinary industry Jami loves to travel and play the piano. She lives with her beautiful 8 year old cat, Leo the long haired Burmilla that impressively sits on command and bowes his head for kisses, a spoilt 4 year old Cavoodle called Gypsy and 4 weiros.
FIONA – QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE AND RECEPTIONIST
Fiona started working for Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in 2003, coming from a background of customer service and administrative positions. After training and working at the hospital for 7 years as a registered vet nurse she then took on the position of receptionist after the expansion of the hospital. Fiona leads the hospital’s stray cat program and is the person to talk to if you are wanting to adopt a new family member. Fiona shares her house with her beloved Bernese Mountain Dog, Sage and two cats Jasper the spoilt feral and Jade the drama queen. Both were adopted from the hospital as older stray cats.
KAREN – QUALIFIED VETERINARY NURSE AND DOG TRAINER
Karen is a qualified Veterinary Nurse who has been working in the Companion Animal Industry for 19 years. She is also a qualified behavioural trainer and has been assisting people with training issues for the past 7 years, using her gentle, positive training methods. Karen runs our very popular Puppy Preschool holding 2 – 3 puppy classes a week. Karen is also the local RSPCA dog training instructor and has been working with them for 5 years. She lives with 2 Siberian Husky’s, 3 cats and has a very understanding husband and gorgeous daughter.
CRYSTAL – VETERINARY STUDENT AND WEEKEND RECEPTIONIST
Crystal grew up in Adelaide and moved to Perth in 2008 to attend veterinary school at Murdoch University. Now in her third year of studies Crystal is enjoying being able to fulfil her childhood dream of becoming a vet and the opportunity to work with such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable group of people at Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital. When not studying or working Crystal enjoys showing cattle as a part of the Murdoch University cattle showing team and relaxing at home with her two cats, Shadow and Princess.
KELLY – VETERINARY STUDENT AND WEEKEND RECEPTIONIST
Kelly has recently begun work with Port Kennedy Veterinary Hospital in September 2011, whilst studying biomedical and computer sciences at University. She aims to become a veterinarian specialising in avian medicine and is looking forward to learning more about the veterinary practice. Kelly has grown up bringing numerous creatures into her home, which she shares with her family and a range of animals including her canine friend Scotty, or ‘Lassie’ to passers-by. She hopes that the future will bring her closer to her best feathered and furry friends, who make this world a better place.
